In our Costly Assumptions Bank Leadership Initiative, we explore the impact of assumptions from a leadership perspective and the costly impact to your organization. As leaders, how do you pause before acting to test how your assumptions affect your behavior? Our customized approach starts with self-examination by leaders and is guided by their specific needs.

An assumption is a theory, usually based on personal perceptions, that can inhibit personal growth. We believe that personal development is integral to building a solid organizational culture.

So what are these costly assumptions, and why are they dangerous?

  • Assumptions can hide the truth of a situation. Often, assumptions are based on a “truth” that isn’t actually true.

The first step is always self-discovery. We lead open discussions about the kinds of assumptions that are being made, sometimes subconsciously, by employees and leaders alike. By discovering your assumptions, leaders will incorporate new skills to overcome them.

As the initiative progresses, we’ll examine how these assumptions can hinder personal and organizational growth.
